Sustainability Engineer

Location: Bukit Raja Industrial Estate, Klang, Selangor

Working Hours: 8.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

About the Role

Galaxy Tech Solutions (KL) Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated and versatile Sustainability Engineer to support a wide range of sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives. This hybrid role combines responsibilities from both sustainability management and energy engineering, making it ideal for candidates who are passionate about environmental impact, data-driven analysis, and technical problem-solving.

As a Sustainability Engineer, you will contribute to sustainability strategy development, GHG and ESG assessments, environmental compliance, energy monitoring, site inspections, and the implementation of efficiency projects. This role offers hands-on experience across multiple sustainability domains while working closely with clients, internal teams, and project partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sustainability Strategy, Assessments & Implementation:

    • Support the development and execution of sustainability strategies for clients and internal projects.

    • Assist in GHG assessments, ESG evaluations, and sustainability compliance reviews.

    • Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance, resource efficiency, and sustainability outcomes.

  • Research, Data Analysis & Technical Assessment:

    • Collect, analyse, and interpret sustainability and energy monitoring data using analytical tools and methodologies.

    • Perform environmental assessments, surveys, and energy data audits to identify improvement opportunities.

    • Prepare evidence-based reports and technical recommendations for clients.

  • Monitoring, Reporting & Communication:

    • Prepare sustainability and energy-related monitoring reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client objectives.

    • Develop advisory and consultancy reports that integrate ESG metrics, environmental data, and technical analysis.

    • Communicate findings clearly through stakeholder presentations, written documentation, and briefing materials.

  • Site Work, Inspections & Project Support:

    • Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys for sustainability or energy efficiency projects.

    • Support implementation of energy savings, ISO 50001 initiatives, and efficiency improvement strategies.

    • Assist in planning and executing medium-sized sustainability or energy-related projects.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with clients, GTS team members, and external vendors to achieve project milestones.

    • Coordinate sustainability- or energy-related discussions, workshops, or data collection activities.

    • Maintain ongoing communication with managers and key stakeholders to ensure project alignment.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Assist in sustainability-related outreach or marketing initiatives.

    • Provide insights on sustainability trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.

    • Perform other tasks assigned to support sustainability and energy objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret technical and environmental data.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Malay.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in team settings.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks or site assignments.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as GRI, TCFD, ISSB, ISO 14064, or related standards.

  • Basic understanding of energy audits, ISO 50001 energy management systems, or energy efficiency concepts.

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, ESG principles, and sustainability reporting requirements.

  • Proficiency in office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic analytical software.

  • Prior internship or project exposure in sustainability, engineering, or energy management is an advantage.
